What breaks when a course is only translated

Video, voiceover and glossary work cost the same in Arabic as in French or Spanish. The difference in Arabic is direction, and a course that was only translated shows five faults:

  • The layout stays where the English put it, so labels and buttons sit on the wrong side.
  • Navigation runs the wrong way, and the progress bar fills from the left.
  • Numbered steps still run left to right, so an Arabic reader starts at step 3.
  • Text inside diagrams and photos stays in English, because no translator can reach it.
  • The Arabic is set at English font sizes and line spacing, so it reads cramped.

A language review does not find these faults, because the words are correct.
They appear when someone uses the course: your client, a regulator, or staff in the region.

Arabic also needs one early decision: which Arabic is recorded. Modern Standard Arabic or a local dialect depends on who your learners are, so it is settled before recording starts.

Past one or two limits, but still with a clear scope: drag and drop, branching scenarios, complex quiz logic or heavy timed animation. Delivered in 15 working days.

Standard limits

  • Editable source for the course and every asset in it
  • About 6,000 words
  • Linear, or branching with up to 3 decision points
  • 3 embedded interactions and one knowledge check of up to 8 questions
  • 3 images carrying on-screen text
  • No embedded video and no custom JavaScript

Past any limit, the course is quoted again before work starts, not renegotiated halfway through.

Add-ons, on top of either price

  • Embedded video, recreated in Arabic with its audio: USD 120 to 150 per finished minute
  • Synthesized Arabic narration, script up to 6,000 words: USD 500 on Standard, USD 750 on Complex

Scoping assessment, USD 250. For a course outside the limits or with no editable source. Credited in full against the project.

Intake

You send the editable source files. The clock starts the day the last item arrives.

Terms agreed

The Arabic terms are signed off in writing before the build. Changing a term after layout means revisiting every screen it appears on.

Every screen rebuilt for Arabic: layout, direction, typography, navigation and artwork.

Test and revise

Deployed and tested on your LMS, with a QA report. Then one round of changes, sent as one list within 10 working days.
